Ξενοφών Ζολώτας
Ο πρώην πρωθυπουργός και καθηγητής κ. Ξενοφών Ζολώτας είχε εκφωνήσει δύο λόγους στην Ουάσιγκτον (στις 26 Σεπτεμβρίου 1957 και στις 2 Οκτωβρίου 1959), οι οποίοι έμειναν μνημειώδεις. Αιτία ως προς αυτό δεν ήταν μόνο το περιεχόμενό τους αλλά και η γλώσσα τους. Υποτίθεται ότι η γλώσσα των λογων ήταν η Αγγλική. Κατ' ουσίαν όμως, με την αφαίρεση λίγων συνδέσμων, άρθρων και προθέσεων η γλώσσα είναι η Ελληνική. Το ακροατήριό του αποτελούσαν οι σύνεδροι της Διεθνούς Τράπεζας Ανασυγκρότησης και Ανάπτυξης και δεν αντιμετώπισαν τότε κανένα πρόβλημα στην κατανόηση τού προφορικού κειμένου που ανέγνωσε ο Έλληνας καθηγητής. Εκείνο τον καιρό, κατείχε την θέση τού διευθυντή Τραπέζης Ελλάδος και διαχειριστή του ελληνικού Δημοσίου Χρέους.
Ακολουθεί ο λόγος της 26/9/1957:
"I always wished to address this Assembly in Greek, but realized that it would have been indeed "Greek" to all present in this room. I found out,however, that I could make my address in Greek which would still be English to everybody. With your permission, Mr. Chairman, l shall do it now, using with the exception of articles and prepositions, only Greek words.
"Kyrie, I eulogize the archons of the Panethnic Numismatic Thesaurus and the Ecumenical Trapeza for the orthodoxy of their axioms, methods and policies, although there is an episode of cacophony of the Trapeza with Hellas. With enthusiasm we dialogue and synagonize at the synods of our didymous organizations in which polymorphous economic ideas and dogmas are analyzed and synthesized. Our critical problems such as the numismatic plethora generate some agony and melancholy. This phenomenon is characteristic of our epoch. But, to my thesis, we have the dynamism to program therapeutic practices as a prophylaxis from chaos and catastrophe. In parallel, a Panethnic unhypocritical economic synergy and harmonization in a democratic climate is basic. I apologize for my eccentric monologue. I emphasize my euharistia to you, Kyrie to the eugenic arid generous American Ethnos and to the organizes and protagonists of his Amphictyony and the gastronomic symposia".
Δύο χρόνια αργότερα, το 1959, ο Ξ. Ζολώτας έδωσε μία άλλη ελληνοαγγλική ομιλία, ζητώντας να τον ακούσουν με προσοχή, ακόμα κι αν υπήρχε ο κίνδυνος να κουράσει τους ακροατές του. Ιδού ο λόγος και η ελληνική του "μεταγραφή":
Kyrie, it is Zeus' anathema on our epoch (for the dynamism of our economies) and the heresy of our economic method and policies that we should agonize the Skylla of nomismatic plethora and the Charybdis of economic anaemia. It is not my idiosyncracy to be ironic or sarcastic but my diagnosis would be that politicians are rather cryptoplethorists. Although they emphatically stigmatize nomismatic plethora, they energize it through their tactics and practices. Our policies should be based more on economic and less on political criteria. Our gnomon has to be a metron between economic,strategic and philanthropic scopes. Political magic has always been anti-economic. In an epoch characterized by monopolies, oligopolies, monopolistic antagonism and polymorphous inelasticities, our policies have to be more orthological, but this should not be metamorphosed into plethorophobia, which is endemic among academic economists. Nomismatic symmetry should not antagonize economic acme. A greater harmonization between the practices of the economic and nomismatic archons is basic. Parallel to this,we have to synchronize and harmonize more and more our economic and nomismatic policies panethnically. These scopes are more practicable now, when the prognostics of the political and economic barometer are halcyonic. The history of our didimus organization on this sphere has been didactic and their gnostic practices will always be a tonic to the polyonymous and idiomorphous ethnical economies. The genesis of the programmed organization will dynamize these policies. Therefore, i sympathize, although not without criticism one or two themes with the apostles and the hierarchy of our organs in their zeal to program orthodox economic and nomismatic policies, although I have some logomachy with them. I apologize for having tyranized you with my Hellenic phraseology. In my epilogue, i emphasize my eulogy to the philoxenous aytochtons of this cosmopolitan metropolis and my encomium to you, Kyrie stenographers.
[Κύριοι, είναι "Διός ανάθεμα" στην εποχή μας και αίρεση της οικονομικής μας μεθόδου και της οικονομικής μας πολιτικής το ότι θα φέρναμε σε αγωνία την Σκύλλα του νομισματικού πληθωρισμού και τη Χάρυβδη της οικονομικής μας αναιμίας. Δεν είναι στην ιδιοσυγκρασία μου να είμαι ειρωνικός ή σαρκαστικός αλλά η διάγνω σή μου θα ήταν ότι οι πολιτικοί είναι μάλλον κρυπτοπληθωριστές. Αν και με έμφαση στιγματίζουν τον νομι- σματικό πληθωρισμό, τον ενεργοποιούν μέσω της τακτικής τους και των πρακτικών τους. Η πολιτική μας θα έπρεπε να βασίζεται περισσότερο σε οικονομικά και λιγότερο σε πολιτικά κριτήρια. Γνώμων μας πρέπει να εί- ναι ένα μέτρο μεταξύ οικονομικής, στρατηγικής και φιλανθρωπικής σκοπιάς. Σε μια εποχή που χαρακτηρίζεται από μονοπώλια, ολιγοπώλια, μονοπωλιακό ανταγωνισμό και πολύμορφες ανελαστικότητες, οι πολιτικές μας πρέπει να είναι πιο ορθολογιστικές, αλλά αυτό δεν θα έπρεπε να μεταμορφώνεται σε πληθωροφοβία, η οποία είναι ενδημική στους ακαδημαϊκούς οικονομολόγους. Η νομισματική συμμετρία δεν θα έπρεπε να ανταγωνίζε- ται την οικονομική ακμή. Μια μεγαλύτερη εναρμόνιση μεταξύ των πρακτικών των οικονομικών και νομισματικών αρχόντων είναι βασι- κή. Παράλληλα με αυτό, πρέπει να εκσυγχρονίσουμε και να εναρμονίσουμε όλο και περισσότερο τις οικονομι- κές και νομισματικές μας πρακτικές πανεθνικώς. Αυτές οι θεωρήσεις είναι πιο εφαρμόσιμες τώρα, που τα προγνωστικά του πολιτικού και οικονομικού βαρομέτρου είναι χάλκινα. Η ιστορία της δίδυμης οργάνωσης σε αυτήν την σφαίρα είναι διδακτική και οι γνωστικές τους εφαρμογές θα είναι πάντα ένα τονωτικό στις πολυώνυ μες και ιδιόμορφες εθνικές οικονομίες. Η γένεση μιας προγραμματισμένης οργάνωσης θα ενισχύσει αυτές τις πολιτικές. Γι' αυτόν το λόγο αντιμετωπίζω με συμπάθεια, αλλά όχι χωρίς κριτική διάθεση, ένα ή δύο θέματα με τους αποστόλους της ιεραρχίας των οργάνων μας στον ζήλο τους να προγραμματίσουν ορθόδοξες οικονομικές και νομισματικές πολιτικές. Απολογούμαι που σας τυράννησα με την ελληνική μου φρασεολογία. Στον επίλογό μου δίνω έμφαση στην ευλογία μου, προς τους φιλόξενους αυτόχθονες αυτής της κοσμοπολίτικης μητρόπολης καθώς και το εγκώμιό μου προς εσάς, κύριοι στενογράφοι.]

Le Dedale Synchrone Du Cosmos Politique
Kyrie, Sans apostropher ma rhetorique dans l’ emphase et la plethore, j’ analyserai elliptiquement, sans nul gallicisme, le dedale synchrone du cosmos politique caracterise par des syndromes de crise paralysant l’ organisation systematique de notre economie. Nous sommes periodiquement sceptiques et neurastheniques devant ces paroxysmes periphrasiques, cette boulimie des demagogues, ces hyperboles, ces paradoxes hypocrites et cyniques qui symbolisent une democratie anachronique et chaotique. Les phenomenes fantastiques qu’on nous prophetise pour l’ epoque astronomique detroneront les programmes rachitiques, hybrides et sporadiques de notre cycle atomique. Seule une panacee authentique et draconienne metamorphosera cette agonie prodrome de l’ apocalypse et une genese homologue du Phenix. Les economistes technocrates seront les strateges d’ un theatre polemique et dynamique et non les proselytes du marasme. Autochtones helleniques, dans une apologie cathartique, psalmodions les theoremes de la democratie thesaurisante et heroique, soyons allergiques aux parasites allogenes dont les sophismes trop hyalins n’ ont qu’ une pseudodialectique. En epilogue a ces agapes, mon amphore a l’ apogee, je prophetise toute euphorie et apotheose a Monsieur Giscard d’ Estaing, prototype enthousiasmant de la neo-orthodoxie economique et symbole de la palingenesie de son ethnie gallique.
Παναγιώτης Σουκάκος
Ολοκληρώθηκαν χθες στη Ρόδο οι εργασίες του 5ου Ευρωπαϊκού Συνεδρίου Ορθοπεδικής, στο οποίο πήραν μέρος Ελληνες και Ευρωπαίοι ορθοπεδικοί. Κατά τη διάρκεια του συνεδρίου έγιναν σημαντικές ανακοινώσεις για τον τομέα της ορθοπεδικής. Ωστόσο, ιδιαίτερη αίσθηση στους συνέδρους προκάλεσε η ομιλία του καθηγητή Ορθοπεδικής στο Πανεπιστή- μιο των Ιωαννίνων κ. Παναγιώτη Σουκάκου, ο οποίος απευθύνθηκε στο ακροατήριό του μιλώντας μεν αγγλικά, χρησιμοποιώντας όμως λέξεις που προέρχονται από την ελληνική γλώσσα. Με αυτή την ομιλία ο κ. Σουκάκος υποδέχθηκε τους συνέδρους και παράλληλα έδωσε το στίγμα του συνεδρίου επισημαίνοντας τα επιμέρους θέματα που αναπτύχθηκαν κατά τις εργασίες. Ετσι, ο κ. Σουκάκος είπε:
"Τhe Ηellenic
orthopedic physicians, have synchronized their dynamism and energy with the
Εuropean Organization of Οrthopedics and Τraumatology, to generate this
symbiotic and not ephemeral synthesis of charismatic, academic scholars, and are
enthusiastic with the atmosphere of euphoria and analogous ecstasy in
Dodecanisa, Rodos. Α plethora of basic and didactic themes in the sphere of orthopedics
and traumatology, such as trauma of the musculoskeletal system, arthroscopic and
arthroplasty surgery, paediatric orthopedics, poly-trauma, podiatric surgery,
carpus and dactylic surgery with traumatic and genetic anomalies, microsurgery,
spondylopathies like scoliosis, kyphosis and spondylolithesis, osteoporosis and
pharmacologic and prophylactic therapeutic policies will be emphasized.
Τo paraphrase, with the phobia and dilemma of being
tautological, let me empasize that the logistics and machinations in this
academic symposium, will generate the scheme and type of our harmonic synergy
and syndesmosis. Ι apologize
for my eulogistic demagogy and if my etymological glossary is based on
philosophic or symbolic metaphors and lexical hyperbole, please sympathize with
me and Ι apologize for the idiosyncrasy of a zealous Ηellenic, practising
orthopaedic physician who is also fanatically enthusiastic about the giant anode
of Εuropean propaedutics and academics in orthopedics and
traumatology".
